Happy Mother's Day

"Motherhood is more than bearing children, though it is certainly that. It is the essence of who we are as women. It defines our very identity, our divine stature and nature, and the unique traits our Father gave us." Being a mother to my sweet Ben and Blakely is the greatest privilege of life. I don't take the responsibility lightly. I am overwhelmingly grateful and humble that my Heavenly Father entrusted me with the job of raising two (for now:) of his children.

"All that I am, or hope to be, I owe to my angel mother"

Oh My Hail!

On April 28th we had the most INSANE hail storm! It was kinda out of nowhere (which is not odd in KY) We had the Curfs over for dinner and Lance and Brandon were out BBQing some burgers when these giant mamma jammas fell from the sky. it was nuts, they were busting through car windows, trash can lids, cracking sideing on housing and filling our lawn. All we could do was stand inside and watch thousands of damage to our cars parked outside in it. About an hour later (after dinner and Blake's Happy 1 mo dessert:) Lance and Ben went outside to collect some, so this is what it looked like 1 HOUR later in 60 degree weather (in other words they were much bigger when they fell)

Easter 2012

The friday before Easter my mom and I took the kids to meet the Easter bunny at the mall. The picture packages were ridiculous and the Bunny was ugly so we just met the bunny and called it good:) Ben was perfectly fine with that so it worked out. Saturday morning we met with some friends at the park for an Easter egg hunt.

Ben was all about the hunt this year--the holidays get more and more fun as he gets older.

Blake was only a week and a half old but it was EASTER and I was feeling ok so we decided to brave church--for Sacrament meeting at least. The Easter bunny conveniently decided to wait and come during church so mom could help him get things together.
Ben's aunts Beck and Cait spoiled him with Easter books and stuffed animals.

it was a bit bright but this is our best attempt at sibling Easter pics in the backyard
My mom--I don't know what I would have done without her! She took the early am shift with Ben and/or baby so I could sleep a little, we made fun meals, had small little outings each day, she was my nurse after unexpected c-section and when I had a spinal leak & INSANE spinal headaches, she was Ben's playmate and buddy, she weeded my yard, we bonded with m&m's and other treats, we went on SLOW walks around the neighborhood, and we wept when she had to leave. It was a wonderful trip and I got her for 2 whole weeks which was wonderful especially with my c-section. She is my best friend and an amazing example of being a mom--I COULD not wish for any better footsteps to follow in.

of course Ben had to mow in between pictures...this kid mows the lawn ALL the time! too bad his mower doesn't actually mow or we, and our neighbors, would have the best manicured lawn in town!

We had Easter dinner with a lot of friends at the Staller's house. My mom did the ham and a yummy dessert and got to meet most of our friends:) Its so nice to have close friends we can spend holidays with.

My Ben: the big brother:)

Possibly the sweetest big brother ever! most of these pics are from the first month. Ben has taken to "big brotherhood" so well-- he woke up during the night the first week or two and that was it! He is soo sweet with her and is constantly saying things like "shes sooo cute!" "She loves me!'' "What's she doin mom?" "I love her!" He is always wanting to hold her and help me with her. I am so blessed! I hope they are always best buddies.
